Pledging Allegiance – The 2019 Members Extravaganza was highlighted by the launch of an inspiring campaign.
From complimentary movie tickets to exciting announcements, this year’s Members Extravaganza was a memorable event. About 1,500 people attended the lively carnival, which was held in March. In light of Singapore’s Bicentennial year, this event honoured past and present Home Team NSmen who have helped to safeguard the nation’s security.
Also present was guest of honour Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Manpower, Second Minister for Home Affairs and President of HomeTeamNS. She announced numerous new perks and enhanced benefits for members, including one-for-one weekend movie tickets at Cathay Cineplexes from April, and a lucky draw with a Skôda Octavia Ambition 1.4 car up for grabs.
Attendees were treated to a buffet spread and complimentary movie passes to watch Captain Marvel at the nearby Cathay Cineplexes theatre.
The carnival culminated in the launch of HomeTeamNS’s new initiative to honour Home Team Nsmen. This takes the form of a pledge campaign that runs till the end of the year, with the aim of collecting 100,000 pledges.
“#REALPledge aims to get our NSMen to re-commit to give their best in service of the safety and security of fellow Singaporeans,” said Minister Teo. She also noted the importance of ordinary citizens. “Your families, too, are vital. When duty calls, they understand. You have to be away, and they give you their blessings anyway. Their pledge of support is equally, if not, more important.”
Minister Teo joined in by pledging her support for the NSmen alongside the attendees.
Members of the public can make their pledges as well, either by signing on the pledge cards at four HomeTeamNS clubhouse locations – Balestier, Bukit Batok, Sembawang and Tampines – or via Instagram with the hashtag #REALPledge.
