Lapping it up – Most Supportive Division or MSD wrapped up its 2018 sporting calendar with the sensational REAL® Run.
More than 5,000 participants, including Home Team NSmen, kick-started the 23rd edition of the HomeTeamNS REAL® (Regular Exercise, Active Lifestyle) Run from Gardens by the Bay, The Meadow, in October 2018. The race was flagged off by Guest of Honour Mr Eric Yap, Commissioner of the Singapore Civil Defence Force, who competed in the 10km Competitive Run category.
This year’s run saw the return of the popular 21km Half Marathon, which was last organised in 2012. And for the first time, families got to take part in a 3km non-competitive Fun Walk. Participants also enjoyed a post-race carnival featuring games such as human foosball, giant Jenga and archery tag.
Superintendent (NS) Terence Choo, Chairman of the event’s organising committee, said: “Family support is vital in enabling our servicemen to carry out their NS duties wholeheartedly. As such, I am glad to see the strong participation from servicemen’s families this year, as the event is an opportunity for NSmen to bond and share a part of their NS experience with them.”
The event ended on a high, with 74 podium winners landing a total of $70,000 worth of cash and prizes. These included stays and free rental of event space at HomeTeamNS Sembawang, plus sponsorship from Fitness Workz, Starbalm, 2XU Compression and Soleus.
