Taking a walk on the wild side at HomeTeamNS’s nature trek

Stop to smell the bougainvillea – it’s what HomeTeamNS members and their families did on a nature trek at the Southern Ridges.

Oh to wander wild and free. Singapore teems with verdant parks and nature reserves that are ripe for a ramble.

In April, HomeTeamNS organised a 4km nature trek along the Southern Ridges for its members and their families. A jaunty group of 103 explorers showed up for the walk, alongside staff members and specialists from outdoor training company Trekkers.

Despite the blazing heat, attendees fully immersed themselves in the unique trail, which features a forest walk and canopy hike that snake through secondary forest. Highlights included a scavenger hunt at Hort Park and a cable car ride from Faber Peak, on which they enjoyed a stunning bird’s-eye view of Sentosa island. Needless to say, photo-taking opportunities abounded.

The two-hour-long trek culminated in a sharing session at the HomeTeamNS-JOM Balestier clubhouse, where participants revealed the high points of their experience.

“This event was fun and enjoyable for my family and me. Attending it was money well spent,” said Ms Chloe Lim, a family member of a Home Team NSman. Agreeing with her was Mr Chew Buck Hiong, who praised the team for another successful outing.
