All Hands On Deck

Meet the other members of the Branding & Publicity Committee.
DSP (NS) Eddy Jamal, 38
Assistant Manager, Corporate Communications, National Neuroscience Institute
Years serving HomeTeamNS: 2
WHY HE SERVES: I wanted to take a different path with my volunteering work, since I’m already doing something related to philanthropy. So I decided to volunteer with the BPC with my communications background as I believe that the whole NSmen community benefits from a strong HomeTeamNS brand.

HIS FONDEST MEMORY: My volunteering stint started just before the pandemic hit, so I haven’t experienced many physical gatherings. But there are still virtual sessions and meetings that allow us to contribute meaningfully. One physical event that I especially enjoyed was 2019’s Gala Dinner cum Appreciation Ceremony, which allowed me to have fun with the entire team.
MAJ (NS) Shabirin Ariffin, 44
Head of Marketing, Stellar Ace SMRT Commercial Pte Ltd
Years serving HomeTeamNS: 5
WHY HE SERVES: Through our team’s branding and publicity efforts, I hope to build the reputation of HomeTeamNS. I want the brand to be synonymous with being the venue of choice for Home Team NSmen and their families, where they can look forward to the most modern and vibrant facilities and heart-warming service.

HIS FONDEST MEMORY: No one forgets their first experiences. In this case, it was my involvement with HomeTeamNS as an editorial committee member for the NS50 magazine. Another would have to be being given the honour of a Meritorious Silver Award in 2019 in appreciation for my contributions after just three years of service.

MAJ (NS) Shabirin Ariffin
Head of Marketing, Stellar Ace
SMRT Commercial Pte Ltd
ASP (NS) Berton Tan, 34
Assistant Vice President, United Overseas Bank
Years serving HomeTeamNS: 4
WHY HE SERVES: I wanted to expand my contributions to my fellow NSmen and saw this as a good opportunity to do so. As my experience is in digital marketing and mobile app engagement, I think I can be a resource as we become increasingly digital.

HIS FONDEST MEMORY: I really enjoyed the meetings we had at HomeTeamNS Sembawang because of that clubhouse’s rustic vibe. Now that it has ceased operations, I truly miss it. But I am glad we are expanding our footprint with newer and more modern clubhouses around the island. njoyed was 2019’s Gala Dinner cum Appreciation Ceremony, which allowed me to have fun with the entire team.
DSP (NS) Cyril Lim, 32
Manager, Human Resources and Finance, Tenderfresh Group
Years serving HomeTeamNS: 2
WHY HE SERVES: I wanted to show support to HomeTeamNS. Although I am a relatively new committee member, the team has welcomed me wholeheartedly and welcomed my feedback on user experience and insights.

HIS FONDEST MEMORY: It is probably the time when I represented HomeTeamNS as a media spokesperson for the opening of HomeTeamNS Khatib last year. I’ve also enjoyed my work in the committee’s communication initiatives, working on PR and crisis communications, as well as the HomeTeamNS app.
SUPT (NS) Jenson Goh, 47
Chief Information and Learning Officer, Monde Nissin Singapore Pte Ltd
Years serving HomeTeamNS: 6
WHY HE SERVES: I hope each of the HomeTeamNS clubhouses continues to be a home away from home; a place where every NSman steps into with a deep sense of pride, purpose and belonging. Through our work, I also hope to strengthen the unity of NSmen and showcase how united we are in keeping our beloved country safe and secure.

HIS FONDEST MEMORY: The deep, meaningful interactions with fellow NSmen have been a great motivator. Then there are the staff of HomeTeamNS, who are caring and very talented as well. Working together as a big family gives our projects a sense of warmth as we continue towards our goal of serving our NSmen.

“Volunteers play a critical role in shaping the HomeTeam NS journey. We definitely need more!”

LTA (NS) Adrian Chye
Former Chairman, HomeTeamNS Branding & Publicity Committee
