Chinese Opera Mask Painting: Participants will have the opportunity to design their own Chinese opera masks, exploring the artistry and storytelling behind this vibrant tradition while expressing various characters and emotions.

Rangoli Drawing

Kolam Designing by Rhythms Aesthetic Society: This interactive workshop features two parts: first, participants will learn to draw traditional Kolam by hand, followed by the creation of a personalised Rangoli design card to take home, beautifully merging cultural heritage with creative expression.

Bunga Rampai Making

Bunga Rampai by Cak Cak Kuti: Join the Bunga Rampai workshop to craft your own potpourri, a traditional activity symbolising purity and goodwill. This engaging session fosters community bonding and appreciation for Malay heritage.

Peranakan Tile Painting

Get hands-on with Peranakan Tile Painting! Known for its vibrant colours and intricate patterns, the Peranakan tile art reflects a unique blend of Malay, Chinese, and European influences. In this workshop, you’ll learn to recreate these stunning designs and take home your very own masterpiece.

Play: Tradition In Action

Engage in four nostalgic traditional games that have been enjoyed across generations:

  • Hopscotch: Test your balance and agility as you hop across squares without stepping on the lines in this classic children’s game.

  • Country Eraser: Relive the competitive fun of flicking erasers to see whose eraser lands on top of the opponent’s, a beloved pastime from primary school days.

  • Congkak: A strategy game where players collect seeds in their storehouse, using a wooden board with rows of holes, aiming to outsmart their opponent.

  • Five Stones: A traditional game where players toss and catch small, pyramid-shaped fabric bags filled with sand or rice. The objective is to complete various challenging moves by catching as many stones as possible.

Eat: Flavour Of The Past
Ang Ku Kueh

Culture Shiok celebrates Singapore’s rich cultural heritage, highlighting the diverse cultures of Peranakan, Chinese, Malay, and Indian through activities that centre around eating, making, playing, watching, and learning for the whole family.

Culture Shiok will take place at Level 1 Thoroughfare, HomeTeamNS Khatib, 2 Yishun Walk, Singapore 767944.

The event runs from 2 to 24 November, with various activities and exhibitions happening at different times. Please refer to the event schedule for specific dates and timings for workshops and performances.
