3 | LOVE Across Time: No Expiry Date! | LOVE 穿越时空972 | LOVE 972 | 30 May – 8pm | SCCC Auditorium, Level 9 | For the first time in 972 years, a mystical portal hidden deep within Bukit Timah Reserve has reopened, allowing supernatural beings from legend to cross into the modern world. However, some spirits never left. When the portal last opened, Bai Suzhen and Xiao Qing, the legendary White and Green Snake Sisters, slipped through and have been hiding in amongst us ever since. Over the centuries, their snake sightings—particularly in Yishun—have sparked urban myths, but few realize the truth: they are survivors, living among humans, waiting for the portal to open again so they can return home. But their long-awaited return is disrupted. Miss Chee, a high-ranking official leading a wildlife conservation initiative, is determined to permanently seal the portal, preventing supernatural beings from traveling between worlds ever again. As she attempts to close the portal, the Snake Sisters intervene, causing an unexpected malfunction—instead of closing, the portal distorts time itself, pulling in legendary lovers from different eras, separating them across timelines, traditions, and even dimensions. One by one, the great lovers of Chinese mythology (中国四大民间传说故事)step through, only to find their long-awaited reunions completely out of sync. They are no longer bound by legend but instead thrust into the modern world, forced to navigate its quirks, rules, and logic. With the portal unstable and time distorted, the Snake Sisters take on the role of “love consultants”, helping each pair find their place in this new reality. |
4 | Disappearing…Series: The Last Episode | 消逝中…:最后的聚集 | Ding Yi Music Company | 6 Jun – 7.30pm 7 Jun – 3pm | SCCC Auditorium, Level 9 | In this last episode of the Disappearing… series, Ding Yi Music Company bridges past and present through Chinese chamber music, breathing life into Singapore’s fading artisanal traditions. This concert honours the artistry of lion dance head-making, rattan weaving, and Malay songkok crafting. Through music and craft showcases, it reminds us that these traditions are not just relics of the past but living cultural treasures to be preserved and celebrated. |
